From white model concept to full scale built miniature. I used a combination of 3D modeling, 3D printing, CNC work and general construction skills to achieve this. Owning all the machines and necessary tool package was the only way to build something as custom as this village on the time frame we had to deal with. I used Rhino to engineer all fabricated pieces.

This model was given to me as a 3D Rhino file from German set designers. I broke it apart to be able to construct a physical model. I repaired tons of pieces within Rhino to make them buildable and printable. I used my CNC for 80% of the model, 3D printed all the seats and set dec as well as used my hot wire for all the over head bins. The model needed to be completely modular to show how it would break apart to jockey around on stage. At the end the total length was over 25′ long. I built this in my home shop and delivered it to Sony where the art department was working out of. I fully designed the supports and structures of this model for it to hold up. It is built out of sintra, gator board 2lb foam and a ton of PETG 3D printing filament.
This is a town in Upstate NY, I walked the town and photographed everything/ surveyed the buildings. I used photoshop to remove any obstructions in front of the facades as well as scale and fix the perspective on everything. I later flew my drone over the town to get a plan view for the model. As the design of the film developed, I would update the model to reflect the changes. Knowing this 13′ model would have to travel for meetings, I broke it into 3 sections and glued in some magnets so it could snap back into place easily.
The town of Lawrence, MA, was a major set in our movie with heavy set dressing and construction as well as over 165 period signs hung. I surveyed the blocks (including upper exterior floors of each building), photoshopped obstructions/distortions and used the drone. Built a periscope to reflect camera lens/ratio in correct scale.

Model of the existing conditions of Bonanza Creek. I surveyed location, photographed each building, flew the drone and updated the model as production design developed.
